42nd Congressional candidate Phil Liberatore has issued a statement in regards to the "Don't Elect Tax Fraud Phil Liberatore" signs we posted about earlier today.
One thing I find interesting is that he calls the allegations "completely false," but never states what the allegations are. I doubt someone would put signs up like that without having proof of some kind. I guess we will have to wait and see. I am sure it will come out tomorrow since Liberatore has a press conference scheduled.

Congressional Candidate Phil Liberatore Responds to Gary Miller 'Tax Fraud' Signs; Links Miller to Defeated Utah Senator Bennett; Schedules Press Conference Outside Miller's District Office
WHITTIER, Calif., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Congressional Candidate Phil Liberatore is responding to signs produced by the campaign of incumbent Republican Congressman Gary Miller and placed around California's 42nd district. The signs read "Don't Elect Tax Fraud Phil Liberatore" and were paid for by the Gary Miller for Congress Committee.
"This is a great day for our campaign," declared Liberatore. "I am not surprised to be attacked by Gary in this way. It means that our campaign is working and he is running scared. These allegations are completely false and defamatory and are the worst kind of mudslinging that the voters detest. But I'm not going go get into the mud with him. He doesn't want to talk about the issues but I will: it's about him going to Washington and voting for the TARP bailout bill with Barney Frank and the liberals."
Liberatore is scheduled to hold a press conference outside Miller's Brea office tomorrow, Tuesday May 11th at 12:30pm to address the issues.
Liberatore is also linking Miller to incumbent Republican Senator Robert Bennett who lost his re-election attempt in Utah. Liberatore's message to Miller: "You're next!"
Bennett a respected conservative, veteran Senator and son of a U.S. Senator was trounced by two upstarts, Mike Lee and Tim Bridgewater who will vie for the GOP nomination and Liberatore sees the same dynamic in his race with six-term Republican cong Gary Miller in California. Although both Miller and Bennett have in the past received high ratings from conservative groups, their voting for the TARP bailout bill and other issues has become political poison and voters in both Utah and California's conservative 42nd district are poised to punish any politicians who voted for it.
"Senator Bennett served his country well, but he betrayed his constituents when he voted to bail out large corporations," responded Liberatore. "The voters in my district don't get bailed out by the federal government when they fail, and they're angry that large financial institutions are treated differently. Like Senator Bennett in Utah, Gary Miller has lost his way. It's time he's replaced with a true conservative."
The 42nd district, which stretches from Whittier in Los Angeles County to Mission Viejo in Orange County and includes parts of San Bernardino County, is one of the most conservative districts in California with a track record of electing conservative candidates. Liberatore has his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and his MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California.
"This is not just an anti-incumbent year," noted Liberatore. "It's a year in which voters are targeting their anger toward incumbents who vote with the Obama administration far too often as Gary and Senator Bennett have. I'll go to Washington and vote like a true conservative which is what the voters in this district deserve from a leader."

ReplyDeleteThe title states "Congressional Candidate Phil Liberatore Responds to Gary Miller 'Tax Fraud' Signs;" then in the press release he says "These allegations are completely false and defamatory" how does he not respond?
"I doubt someone would put signs..." it states it's paid for by the Gary Miller for Congress Committee on the sign, who else would do this?
Also I like how when ever anyone else has press releases you don't insert you opinion in the blog...you do it instead as a comment.
Also if you got this from PR News Wire then you would know that the photo wasn't first posted to facebook it was instead posted to the Press Release.
Frank,
ReplyDeleteHe never addressed what the allegation was because the sign doesn't specify. Is it tax fraud for himself? A client? his business? The sign doesn't say, so how can he deny it yet?Liberatore could really be setting himself up by just putting out a general, "These allegations are completely false and defamatory." He addresses something without really knowing what it is.
I didn't say that he didn't "respond," as you wrote ("how does he not respond"). I said he didn't say what the allegations were, because no one knows.
Once again you miss the point. Regarding my "someone," comment, the point is that someone doesn't put their name on sign without proof. I bet money Miller has a mailer, radio ad, press release, etc... that will shed some light on the meaning of the signs soon. Then we will all know. But if Miller does have proof, Liberatore has now helped him by putting out a press release denying it. Even if it is something small and Liberatore fixes it, he already denied it. Politics 101 is never deny something before you know what it is.
I looked back over the last week and I inserted my opinion in several posts with press releases or campaign comments for Liberatore, Gary Miller and McGroarty. This is a blog, not just a press release site. Sorry, but thanks for reading.
I didn't get it from PR, I got it from here.

Frank,
ReplyDeleteit was an oversight that a link to the press release wasn't included in the post. I have done that now.
