Lee McGroarty Donations
Earlier this morning we reported that Lee McGroarty had broken his pledge to post all donations on his web site.
So I thought we would help him out by listing all of his donations that were made public because they were over $200.
Patrick McGroarty $300
David Day $1000, owner of Three Sons Inc. in Pico Rivera
Albert Monsour $250, owner Mansour Chiropractic
Cynthia Moran $1000, Founder of Cyn in the City
Ronald Day $2400
Jean Day $2400
McGroarty is challenging Rep. Gary Miller, Phil Liberatore and David Su for the Republican nomination in the 42nd Congressional district.

Lee McGroarty breaks Campaign Pledge
In February we reported that the Conservative Party of California had endorsed 42nd Republican Congressional candidate Lee McGroarty. As part of that endorsement McGroarty signed a pledge.
The beginning of the pledge reads, "I (Candidate) hereby agree to adhere to the following stipulations in order to gain the endorsement of and/or support from the Conservative Party (California), hereinafter referred to as PARTY. As a Candidate for elected Office, I pledge to:"
Line 5 of the pledge reads, "Accept funds or contributions only from individual US citizens and PAC’s or corporations or groups specifically approved by the PARTY. I will immediately disclose all contributions/donations to my PAC for review by the PARTY within 48 hours of receipt. If deemed not acceptable, all such funds will be returned to the contributors with explanation. I further pledge to post all donations on my website."
In February we pointed out that McGroarty did not have his campaign donations listed online as he pledged to do. Lee McGroarty himself replied to our post so he obviously read the story. Now, two months later he still refuses to list his campaign donations as he pledged.
A candidate must disclose to the FEC, and the public, any donations over $200. McGroarty has done that, so we can see who has given more than $200 to him. However, we don't know who has given under $200.
One has to wonder why we should believe his pledges of what he will do if elected to Congress, if he is already breaking his pledges as a candidate.

Rep. Gary Miller Appears on Fox News
According to the Orange County Register's Total Buzz. Rep. Gary Miller appeared on Fox News this morning to discuss his efforts to stop children of illegal immigrants from receiving automatic birthright citizenship. They are commonly referred to as "anchor babies."
Last month, 42nd Republican Congressional candidate Lee McGroarty called bills dealing with the issue, including Miller's, "unconstitutional."
In February we did a story on the birthright citizenship position of the three candidates challenging Miller for the Republican nomination.
The video of the interview can be found here.

Update: Phil Liberatore at Yorba Linda Tea Party
42nd Congressional candidate Phil Liberatore will be appearing at the Yorba Linda Tea Party Rally today from 4:30-7:30pm. The campaign is providing a bus to take people to the rally. For more information call 714-310-3062.
I checked the online schedules this morning for the other three Republican candidates and it doesn't appear they are doing any events today.
Congress has votes today so Rep. Gary Miller is in Washington, D.C.
David Su's event page doesn't list any events.
The Facebook page of Lee McGroarty states he is doing events today and to check his event page for details. However, the event page lists two past events from March and one from April 1 but none for today or in the future.
UPDATE: At 10:45am we received a comment that McGroarty's event page has now been updated. His schedule for today can be found here.

Lee McGroarty Campaign Files Amended FEC Forms
While checking the FEC website for 2010 First Quarter campaign filings today I noticed that 42nd Republican Congressional Candidate Lee McGroarty had filed amended forms yesterday for the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2009. This happens and is usually not out of the ordinary.
However, this time, I was surprised at the only change I found.
On his original 3rd quarter filing form McGroarty listed a September 29, 2009 $4800 donation from Ronald Day. His amended form now lists a September 29, 2009 $2400 donation from Ronald Day and $2400 from Joan Day.
So, seven months after the donation the McGroarty campaign is saying it came from two people, not one.
I called some people who know more about FEC filings than me. None had every heard of a campaign changing the name of the individual who gave a donation after reporting the donation to the FEC. One suggested this would surely draw the attention of the FEC.
