Daily Bulletin endorses Rep. Gary Miller, calls Lee McGroarty "favorite" of challengers

The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, on their editorial page, has endorsed Rep. Gary Miller.

They wrote,

"The challengers are running to the right of Miller, but we can't see much daylight to his right. Miller's positions are very conservative in most areas - illegal immigration, for example. He lands to our right on many issues, but we like that you always know where he stands and he doesn't shift with the political winds.

Miller is a developer, and some of his land dealings with cities in and around the Inland Valley have raised eyebrows and caught his opponents' attention. We have questioned some of them ourselves, but never found wrongdoing. He says he gets more scrutiny and runs up against more roadblocks - not fewer - than the average developer because he's a congressman.

We trust he will continue to work to reduce the debt we're leaving for our children and grandchildren - and that's enough for an endorsement in this Republican primary."

In regards to Lee McGroarty they wrote,

"If we had to pick a favorite from among those challengers, it would be Chino businessman Lee McGroarty, who has tangled quite a bit with Miller in the campaign."

  1. Wow, Liberatore spends almost 600k of his own money and they're calling McGroarty the favorite among challengers. Of course I'm biased for my candidate, but I think that Lee has done a good job stating his position on a variety of issues and his call for an investigation on Miller was very damaging. I think that Su is too young to be taken seriously, but could have a bright future in politics. Liberatore, has just not impressed me much. He had the money to get his name out, but it seems the issues he attacked Miller on were copied right of McGroarty's website. His irrational stubborness to accept what seems like a legitimate document may cost him.
I still have hope that Miller will be defeated by McGroarty, but with 3 challengers it will be difficult. Is it too late for Phil and David to drop out? lol

  2. The Daily Bulletin is endorsing Miller because "he will continue to work to reduce the debt we're leaving for our children and grandchildren"... How? What has Gary Miller done to reduce the debt!!?? Forget TARP, he voted for Cash for Clunkers! He didn't vote against the GM bailout, but conveniently said he opposed it. If you're against something, as a paid US Representative, you do so by VOTING against it! But it's hard to vote against something when you only show up half the time! I'm sure the Daily Bulletin conveniently forgot to factor that little tidbit in. I'm sure they enjoy paying their staff full time paychecks and then only having them show up half the time... but they're going to endorse a Congressman doing it? Why? Because the Daily Bulletin is liberal. They said it themselves. It's hard to see just how much light is really to Miller's right when you're standing so far to his left! There is only one true conservative in this race and his name is Lee McGroarty... case closed.

  3. Aluckyday,

So as a McGroarty supporter, do you think that them saying McGroarty is their "favorite" of the three challengers is good or bad?

Will McGroarty be denouncing their support?

  4. What support? They didn't say vote for McGroarty, they endorsed Miller. Where's the support in that? Now, if they had said "in the event Congressman Miller's OTHER voting arm goes out on him and he will now be absent from ALL votes instead of just half of them so we are FORCED to endorse a TRUE CONSERVATIVE, not the one closest to our own left-leaning position, but the one who eclipses all the light to Miller's right and that one is none other than the Grand Master Tea Partying Conservative Right Winger... Lee McGroarty!! Now, THAT would be showing support! THAT would be an endorsement I could get behind!

  5. aluckyday,
is this your first time around politics?

Not only are you trying to beat Miller, you have to also defeat Liberatore and Su. The paper basically said if you don't like Miller, or are voting anti-incumbent, vote McGroarty.

If I was on your campaign I would be using "favorite from among those challengers," and McGroarty "has tangled quite a bit with Miller in the campaign," in everything I could for the next five days.

This advice is free but I charge for more.
