Congressional Candidate Phil Liberatore Throws Party for Voters
Over 500 gather for popcorn, hamburgers, snow cones and free concert in downtown Brea
Whittier, CA (PRWEB) April 26, 2010 -- Phil Liberatore, a candidate for Congress from the 42nd district locked in a fierce contest with incumbent Republican Congressman Gary Miller showed voters just how serious he is about going to Washington to serve them: on Saturday he served hamburgers and provided free food, games and entertainment at an event dubbed Liberty Day for a crowd estimated at over 500 near downtown Brea. Liberatore also introduced a surprise guest, former CBS News consumer advocoate Mike “Bogey” Boguslawski, a catalyst in the recall of former California governor Gray Davis, who returned to California to endorse Liberatore.
“I’ve never endorsed anyone before, but I flew in to help Phil get elected to Congress,” Bogey told the crowd.
The event included free hamburgers, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones as well as special giveways of iPod's, TV's and bicycles. For kids there was a bounce house and for adults a concert by Linda Tavani half of the legendary duo Peaches and Herb who sang her hit song "Reunited."
Liberatore also spoke at the event, reminding attendees of the need for a change in leadership in Washington.
“Taxes are too high,” Liberatore said. “They tax us when we wake up. They tax us when we buy gas. They tax us when we buy food. And then they tax us when we die. It's time for a change. We’re going to take back America.”
The 42nd district, which stretches from Whittier in Los Angeles County to Mission Viejo in Orange County and includes parts of San Bernardino County, is one of the most conservative districts in California with a track record of electing conservative candidates.
An ordained minister, trusted businessman, and resident of the 42nd District for the past 25 years, Liberatore believes he will address the many issues face the 42nd district and the U.S. with character and integrity. He has his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and his Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Southern California.
