SGV Tribune Covers Phil Liberatore Endorsement Mailer; So does Red County

Earlier we posted that Jane Barnett, Chair of the Los Angeles County Republican Party, had sent 42nd Congressional candidate Phil Liberatore a letter asking that he stop claiming he has been endorsed by the Chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Party.

Now the San Gabriel Tribune has published a story on it.

CHAIRMAN WHO?: The Los Angeles County Republican Party has not taken too kindly to a mailing sent out by GOP congressional candidate Phil Liberatore. Or has it?

Liberatore, who is hoping to oust fellow Republican Gary Miller from his congressional seat, sent out a campaign mailing that boasts the support of Robert Vaughn, who Liberatore cites on the mailing as chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Party.

But Jane Barnett, who also boasts the title of Los Angeles County Republican Party Chairwoman, sent a letter to Liberatore on Friday telling him that Vaughn "is not and has never been chairman" of the party and "the Los Angeles County Republican Party does not endorse Phil Liberatore for Congress."

Turns out, there is a lawsuit between Barnett and Vaughn over who is the rightful chairman.

Allen Wilson at Red County, who is a Member of the LA County Republican Central Committee, also has a story about it. His point is that Chairman of Central Committee's are barred from endorsements. So Vaughn, if he was Chairman, would be barred from endorsing Liberatore.
