From the Office of Rep. Gary Miller
###
Washington, Sep 23 -
Today, Rep. Gary Miller was awarded the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Guardian of Small Business Award for his strong small business voting record in the 111th Congress. The Guardian of Small Business Award is a token of the deep appreciation that small business owners have for elected officials who promote and protect their right to own, operate, and grow their businesses. Following this honor, Rep. Gary Miller released the following statement:
“I am honored and humbled to receive this award from the NFIB, but American small businesses deserve the applause. Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy—they create nearly seven out of every ten jobs in our great nation. During the current economic recession, however, small businesses have encountered numerous obstacles to continued job creation. From the lack of liquidity in the marketplace, to the new government health care mandates, to new and excessive regulations, the government has created an unfriendly business atmosphere that has forced many small businesses to downsize and has hampered them from hiring new employees.
“The future of job creation in the United States does not rest in reckless government spending by Washington politicians and overreaching regulations promulgated by Washington Bureaucrats—it lies in unleashing the creativity of the American people. As such, I will keep working in Congress to allow small businesses to have access to their own capital so that they can keep their doors open for business and create more job opportunities. Small businesses are the engine of job creation in our great nation and Congress must quit layering massive, uncalled for regulations and taxes on these job creators.”
