More on Robert Vaughn

Earlier we posted that Jane Barnett, Chair of the Los Angeles County Republican Party, had sent 42nd Congressional candidate Phil Liberatore a letter asking that he stop claiming he has been endorsed by the Chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Party.

According to the letter Liberatore had been sending out "mailings to voters attempting to intentionally mislead them that you are endorsed by the Chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Party."

The letter went on to say ,"Robert Vaughn IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN Chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Party."

I have since found out that Robert Vaughn is running for Congress in the 38th district against Rep. Grace Napolitano. His site says that he is a former Navy Admiral.

His website says, "A native Californian, Robert Vaughn was born in 1959 at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego. Raised and educated in Los Angeles County, the former Navy Admiral proudly served from 1979 through 1983, under his Commander-in-Chief Ronald Reagan. Vaughn held high level top-secret clearance, was involved with squadron operations, and was responsible for tracking Russian nuclear submarines operating in the Pacific Ocean, with great attention to the entire west coast of the United States."

He is currently a counselor. He presently holds an AA degree and holds a certificate in addictions counseling.

Vaughn never claims to be Chairman but says, "In December 2008, he was elected Second Vice Chairman to its executive board. Shortly thereafter in 2009, Vaughn ascended to the position of Chairman following the resignations of the previous Chairman and First Vice Chairman. Today he humbly assumes all responsibilities of chairmanship as he serves all Republican voters and their families in fostering the values and principles of their party."

Local Members of Congress on Birthright Citizenship

The Daily Bulletin has an article written by Stephen Wall about efforts by two local Congressman to clarify the 14th Amendment when it comes to immigration, effectively banning automatic citizenship for children of illegal aliens. It allows us to see where our elected officials stand on this important issue.

Rep. Gary Miller, a co-sponsor, addressing the costs of automatic citizenship says, "You have many people coming to this country illegally. They come to this country and have babies. The children are citizens. The children are eligible to go to school. They receive food stamps and social programs. The American taxpayers are paying for it."

Rep. Joe Baca calls the bill "unconstitutional."

Rep. Grace Napolitano declined comment on the bill.

Rep. Buck McKeon, a co-sponsor who represents portions of San Bernardino County, addressing the need for the bill says, "There's an incentive for people to come here and quickly have a baby. Since the baby is a citizen, it's harder to send the family back to where they came from if they came illegally. Now you have a citizen and it would split up the family."

Rep. Jerry Lewis, according to the article, has not yet taken a position on the bill.
